Mylene Mendoza-Dayrit is the highest ranking executive and most respected female entrepreneur in the Philippine fitness industry. She is the Managing Director of several fitness companies all representing top US brands : GoldĄ¯s Gym Philippines which has 31 outlets, UFC Gym Philippines which has 4 locations, and Musclecontest Philippines. She published SHAPE Philippines and Muscle & Fitness Philippines for three years and has maintained a weekly column in The Philippine Star since 1987. With her husband and some partners, she owns an equipment distribution company exclusively distributing Star Trac, Nautilus, StairMaster and Throwdown.
Her involvement in the local fitness industry started in 1986, when she led the explosive growth of a local fitness chain from 4 to 21 in the Philippines in a span of ten years from 1986 to 1996. She established the same brand as a gym chain in Thailand with 18 locations when she left. She was the president of the company both in the Philippines and Thailand. Mylene has established more than 100 gyms in the Philippines and Thailand from commercial gyms, school gyms, golf and country club gyms as well as hotel and residential condominium gyms. She was recognized in 2008 by The Philippine Yearbook as part of the 80 industry movers and shakers. She was the lone recipient from the fitness industry. She has started corporate wellness programs in the country and has active alliances with hundreds of companies since 1996.
Outside of the fitness industry, Mylene has served as a member of the Board of Directors of The Philippine National Advertisers or PANA for three years, was the last Chairman of the Philippine Media Audit Council. She was also the national chairman of the prestigious TOFIL (The Outstanding Filipino) Awards in 2000. Mylene is a graduate of Management Engineering from the Jesuit-run Ateneo de Manila University. She had short stints with San Miguel Corporation and the Asian Institute of Management where she handled PR and co-authored a book published by the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies.
